Creating shipping methods
Under “Shipping”, “New shipping method” defines how your goods travel: name, price and the countries they go to. Write the countries as two letters separated by commas — PT, ES, FR; empty means everywhere. An empty price or 0 means free.
At checkout the buyer picks a shipping method. Offered are the methods that deliver to the country the buyer chooses. Unticking “Offer at checkout” switches a method off without deleting it — it then appears in the list as “Switched off”.
Checkout asks for a shipping method and a delivery address only for products that are shipped. Without a shipping method switched on, such goods cannot be ordered — checkout tells the buyer before they enter anything. Products without shipping (digital, a service) can still be ordered.
- Open “Shipping” and click “New shipping method”.
- Choose “Shipping” as the “Type”.
- Enter name, price and countries.
- Click “Save”.
Pickup
You can also choose “Pickup” as the “Type”: the buyer collects the goods from you. Instead of countries you enter under “Where can it be picked up?” where and when that is possible. This appears at checkout and in the order confirmation.
Pickup applies to every country, and the buyer needs no delivery address. When the goods are ready, click “Mark as shipped” in the order — your buyer then gets the email saying the order is ready for pickup.
- Click “New shipping method” and choose “Pickup” as the “Type”.
- Enter a name and the pickup place.
- Click “Save”.
Free shipping from an amount
A method of the type “Shipping” has the field “Free from”. Once the goods value — after discount, without shipping costs — reaches this amount, shipping is free. Empty means: never.
If the same threshold applies to all your shipping methods, your shop also shows it above the range, for example “Free shipping from €40.00”.

Tax rates
Under “Taxes”, “New tax rate” creates the rates you need: a name and the percentage. On the product you then choose the right one under “Tax rate”. Without a tax rate the shop charges no tax for a product.
Which tax applies is your decision — the shop only calculates what you enter. On the product you choose the rate that applies where you are. With “Country (optional)” you create rates for other countries: a rate with the same name and a country applies instead of the product's rate when the goods go to that country — for digital goods, when the buyer is based there. A rate without a country applies to all buyers, one with a country only there; if no rate fits a country, the shop charges no tax there. For pickup, the product's rate applies.
If you delete a tax rate, the products that carried it lose their rate. Existing orders keep their tax.
- Open “Taxes” and click “New tax rate”.
- Enter the name and percentage — for another country the same name plus the country — and click “Save”.
- Choose the rate on the product under “Tax rate” and save the product.
If you sell digital products to buyers outside your countries — in the United Kingdom or Norway, for example — the shop charges no tax there until you create a rate for that country. Whether you owe tax there is a question for your tax adviser.
Tax included or added
Whether your prices already include tax is set once for the whole shop: “Settings” → “General” → “Prices include tax”. Ticked, the shop takes the tax out of the price and shows “incl. tax” above the range. Unticked, tax is added on top; the shop then shows “plus tax”.
Tax is calculated per line on the amount after discount and rounded half up to the cent. The cart already shows the tax per rate and country; the buyer sees the binding total before paying, and the order, the status page and the confirmation list the tax per rate and country as lines of their own. With tax-inclusive prices the buyer pays the price on the product in every country — only the tax portion follows the rate.
Shipping costs carry the rate of the goods they travel with: with one rate exactly that one, with mixed rates proportionally to the net value of the items; digital items do not travel along. If the parcel goes to a country without a rate, shipping stays tax-free too. The tax on shipping is part of the tax line of its rate, and the export lists it per rate and country as a line of its own.
