Setting up WooCommerce
You run a shop inside your WordPress with WooCommerce, WordPress’s shop plugin. In the workbench it opens from the Control Panel’s “Shop” group. If none is installed yet, it says “No shop on this site yet”. “Set up WooCommerce” installs the plugin after you confirm and switches it on; it deletes nothing and changes no existing content. On the live site we back up your site first.
Afterwards a card shows whether the shop is switched on. The “On” switch takes it offline for visitors (“Yes, switch off”) — products and orders are kept in full. When a new version is ready, it says “Update available”; “Update (with backup)” installs it after the live site has been backed up, because a shop update can restructure the database.
The shop area uses no AI credit. If your WordPress site should only show products from ShopBuilder, you do not need WooCommerce — the “KENJTEC Shop” block does that (Showing products).
- In the workbench, open the “Shop” group on the left under “Control Panel”.
- Click “Set up WooCommerce” and confirm with “Yes, set up now”.
- Wait until “WooCommerce is installed and switched on.” appears.
The shop area at a glance
At the top of the WordPress shop, tiles show the number of your products and orders and the state of the settings — “Basic details complete” or “Basic settings missing”. A click on a tile leads to the matching task. If a number cannot be read, it says “Unavailable” instead of zero.
Below them you choose the area: Products, Orders, Shipping, Taxes, Coupons, Payment methods, Invoices and Settings. The areas’ tools appear as soon as WooCommerce is running. They are Control Panel tools with the same dots and confirmations; Kenji can operate them for you too. They follow the “Live”/“Sandbox” switch.
Address, country and currency
The “Settings” area holds the shop’s basic details: “Street and number”, “City”, “Postal code”, “Country” and “Currency”. The checkout calculates with them. The postal code is optional, because some countries have none. You enter the country as two letters, for example PT; for countries with regions, with a colon, for example US:CA.
Only what you change is set; you can clear a detail only in WooCommerce itself. A different currency only changes the symbol, not the number — prices are not converted.
- Open “Settings” in the shop area.
- Enter street and number, city and country, and choose your currency under “Currency”.
- Click “Save”.
Products
In the “Products” area the tools come first: “Manage products” unfolds “Products with price and stock”, “Create product”, “Edit product” and “Move product to trash”; next to it is “Set stock”. A new product gets a name, a price and, if you like, an item number, a short description and a description, and it is published straight away unless you choose otherwise. You write the price with a point, for example 12.90; when changing a product you can also set a sale price.
Below is your range as a table with number, title, status and date. With the “Status” choice on each row you publish or hide a product. You need the number when you change a product with the tools. Variants, product images and categories you manage in WP-Admin.
- Open “Products” in the shop area.
- Unfold “Manage products” and choose “Create product”.
- Enter name and price, for example “Lumen house roast 250 g” and 12.90, and click “Run”.
- Set the number in stock with “Set stock”.
Orders
The “Orders” area shows your shop’s latest orders. The tool “Orders with amount” lists them with their amount, also in shops that keep their orders in separate tables. If the overview below cannot count them, it says so; in the shop itself they are still complete.
“Set order status” changes an order’s status: “Processing (paid)”, “Completed”, “Awaiting payment”, “Payment pending”, “Canceled” or “Refunded”. If the connection to Invoice is on, a paid order becomes an invoice and a refunded or cancelled one a cancellation invoice (Orders become invoices).
- Open “Orders” in the shop area.
- Choose “Set order status” among the tools.
- Enter the order number, choose “Completed” and click “Run”.
Shipping, taxes and coupons
In the “Shipping” area you create shipping zones and assign countries to them, as two letters such as PT. Each zone has shipping methods — flat rate, free or pick-up —, each with the name your customers see at checkout and an amount.
In the “Taxes” area you switch tax calculation on or off and create tax rates: country, rate in per cent, the name on the receipt and a class — standard, reduced or zero. Which rates apply to you is decided by your country.
In the “Coupons” area you create codes: a percentage or an amount off the cart, or an amount per product, optionally with an expiry date, free shipping and a limit on how often it can be redeemed. Deleting asks first in all three areas.
- Open “Coupons” in the shop area and choose “Create coupon”.
- Enter the code SAISON10, choose “Percentage off the cart” and the value 10.
- Enter the end of the season under “Valid until (YYYY-MM-DD)” and click “Run”.
Payment methods
The “Payment methods” area shows what your customers can choose at checkout, in that order. You set up payment methods in WooCommerce itself, in WP-Admin, with your own accounts at the payment provider, for example Stripe. KENJTEC holds none of it and sees none of it.
If it says the checkout has never been set up, there is no saved list yet. Open WooCommerce’s settings in WP-Admin and set up your payment methods there.
Orders become invoices in Invoice
Every paid order in your WordPress shop becomes an issued invoice in Invoice — with number, PDF and archive, booked as paid —, and the buyer becomes a customer: found by email address, otherwise newly created. A refunded or cancelled order becomes a cancellation invoice; nothing is ever deleted (Cancelling). The switch for this is called “Orders become invoices in Invoice” and is on from the start.
The “Invoices” area lists every reported order with what became of it: the invoice with its number, “cancelled”, “Draft”, “not read”, “not paid yet” or “connection was off”. If your sender details are missing in Invoice, the invoice stays a draft with a sentence saying what is missing; complete them (Setting up your sender) and click “Check again”. If an order is missing, enter it under “Catch up an order number” and click “Catch up”. “Open Invoice” takes you to your documents.
If you write your invoices with another tool, switch the connection off — otherwise there would be two invoices for one purchase. The orders then stay in the shop only.
- Open “Invoices” in the shop area.
- Leave “Orders become invoices in Invoice” switched on — or switch it off if you invoice differently.
- Click “Check again” on a draft once you have completed your sender in Invoice.
