Creating an account
You need an email address, a password of at least eight characters and a credit or debit card. The card is not charged — we only check that it is valid; prepaid cards are not accepted. You add your name later, and a billing address is only requested at the checkout when you book something.
Your account takes its language and currency from your visit; you can change both later under “Language and currency”. After creating the account, the “Set up account” page takes you through two steps: the six-digit code from the email and the card. Only then does the dashboard open. Your address on kenjtec.ai is created along with it.
- Click “Create account” at the top right (on a phone: “Menu”, then “Create account”).
- Enter your email address and a password in the “Create account” window and click “Create account”.
- On the “Set up account” page, enter the code from the email, then add your card with “Open card field” and “Check card” — the dashboard opens.
Signing in
“Sign in” sits at the top right of every page on kenjtec.com. It opens the “Welcome back” window — the same window everywhere, on the home page as in the checkout. It can be used entirely with the keyboard; Escape closes it.
If the address or password is wrong, the window says just that — it doesn’t reveal whether an account exists for an address. After several wrong attempts in a row, signing in is blocked for a quarter of an hour; the message tells you how long is left.
- Click “Sign in” at the top right (on a phone: “Menu”, then “Sign in”).
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click “Sign in” — you land in the dashboard.
Forgotten password
Next to the password field in the sign-in window there is “Forgot password?”. You enter your address and receive an email with a link. It is valid for 30 minutes and works only once.
The link leads to the “New password” page. There you set the new password and are signed in straight away. Every other session of your account ends at the same moment — anyone who knew your old password is out.
The confirmation in the window always reads the same, even if there is no account for that address. If no email arrives, check your spam folder and make sure you used the same address you signed up with.
- Open “Sign in” and click “Forgot password?”.
- Enter your email address and click “Send link”.
- Open the link in the email.
- Enter the new password under “New password” and “Once more”, then click “Set password”.
Sign in once, be in every tool
One sign-in covers all of KENJTEC: kenjtec.com and every tool — WebSiteBuilder, FormBuilder, ShopBuilder and the rest. When you switch tools, you are already signed in there.
BusinessCloud signs you in with the same account too. If you are already signed in to KENJTEC, you type nothing there; otherwise a sign-in page of its own asks for the email address and password of your KENJTEC account. There is no second password.
When you sign out, you are signed out everywhere — see Signing out.
Second factor
With a second factor, signing in asks — on top of your password — for a six-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Anyone who only knows your password then cannot get in. You switch it on in the dashboard under “Account”, in the “Second factor” section.
Once it is on, every way in asks for the code: signing in with your password, signing in to the BusinessCloud and also “Forgot password” — after the new password, the step for the code opens. Switching it on ends your other sessions; sign in there again, now with the code.
“Switch off second factor” only works with a current code from the app. That way nobody removes the protection just because they briefly got hold of your open browser.
When you switch it on, the dashboard shows you ten recovery codes once, to copy or download. Each one replaces the code from the app exactly once: when signing in via “No access to the app? Use a recovery code”, on the BusinessCloud sign-in page in the field below the code, and when switching it off. How many are left is shown in the “Second factor” section. “Create new recovery codes” gives you a new set — the previous one then stops working.
Three more things protect your account: after several wrong passwords in a row, signing in is blocked for a quarter of an hour. A new password ends every other session. And “Sign out” ends your sign-in on all devices at once. Use a password for KENJTEC that you use nowhere else — and change it if you think someone knows it.
- Open “Account” in the dashboard and, in the “Second factor” section, click “Switch on second factor”.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app — or type in the “Key to type in”.
- Enter the six-digit code under “Code from the app” and click “Confirm and switch on”.
- Save the ten recovery codes with “Copy” or “Download” and click “I have saved them”.
Keep the recovery codes separate from your phone, for example in your password manager or printed out. If your phone is gone, sign in with one code, switch off the second factor with a second code and set it up again with the new phone. Without your phone, the key and the recovery codes, signing in can no longer be completed.
